Wrapping Up

It is already time to *wrap up! I know you may feel like you could not enjoy your school life enough this year. Great job coming all the way here even in these tough times. In this last editorial of 2020 (and the last editorial I will ever write for the SM Herald), I am going to talk about how to finish something successfully, in other words, wrapping up. Let us find out what we need to do to make a meaningful finale for 2020. After that, do not forget to take a look at what some students want to say about 2020 and 2021.

*Wrap up (something) / Wrap (something) up: To complete something successfully or to finish doing something.

- Accept the failures

We wrote an article about the achievements and things to fix of this web magazine. The SM Herald has done this every winter, right at the end of the year. Just like us, give yourself some time to go through the last 365 days of your life and review what was successful and what was not. It is easy to blame yourself when you have failed to do something. Reflecting on it is okay, but be careful not to think about it over and over until you get depressed. This will only erase your strength to create positive change. When accepting the failures you made, stick to the facts and focus on your behavior (not your feelings). Thinking of yourself as a loser will not help you go forward at all. Look at the steps you took and think about whether it was helpful.

- Build muscles

Make a list of long-term and short-term goals or dreams. Visit the people you love. Give the hospital a visit and check out your mental and physical health. Throw out the toxic relationships and memberships that you never want to use again. These are well known ways to get ready for the next year. I think “building physical strength and mental muscles that can change your life” is a great way to get ready for the time ahead. It might look difficult to change a person’s life. However, we all need to know that it is not that hard. Select 4 places to donate money or anything else, and there you go, you have made a change to somebody’s life. Do not forget that you have the muscles and strength to change your life as well as others.

That is all. The SM Herald hopes you have a happy new year! Before you go, take a quick look at the flashbacks of our fellow students. There is also a space for you, too.
